Public Participation for Integrated Waste Management Bylaws
The closing date for comments on the City’s Draft Integrated Waste Management Bylaws is 7 September 2020.
This year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, public participation is through digital platforms. This is in response to Directive No 43291 issued by Minister of Corporative Governance and Traditional Affairs, in terms of Section 27(2) of the Disaster Management Act 2002.
These bylaws are a set of laws that generally and uniformly regulate and administrate waste management activities such as avoidance, minimisation, processing and treatment, and final safe disposal of waste with the aim of ensuring sustainable waste management practices within the Municipality.
Part of the process in developing the reviewed draft bylaws includes public participation in which the public is consulted and asked to comment on the Municipality’s draft bylaws.
