About Cllr Fridah Nkadimeng

The Executive Mayor Hon Cllr Mogotle Friddah Nkadimeng joined the municipality with a vast experience in leadership positions especially in government, she portrays a very calm and welcoming demeanour, naturally soft spoken but she can easily switch to a strict disciplinarian along the way, born on the 30th of October 1961 at Sabie in Mpumalanga province in the jurisdiction of Thaba Chweu Local Municipality she explains that she is the only daughter of Ennie and late Frans Mashaba. The only daughter amongst 5 brothers and she count herself as blessed and fortunate because her mother is still alive at a ripe age of 93.

Honourable Nkadimeng and her family relocated to Burgersfort in a village called Ga-Motodi, where she started her primary education in 1971 and completed it in 1976 obtaining her standard 6 certificate.
The Executive Mayor continued with her secondary education at Moukangoe Secondary School and obtained a form three certificate in 1978, she later completed matric at Leolo High School where she obtained her matric certificate in 1980. Due to financial difficulties she had to put her studies in abeyance in order to work as a private teacher for a period of 4 years working in numerous schools around the Burgersfort area between1981 and 1983, she later taught at Mapiti Primary School at a place called Ga-Makofane in 1987.

In 1988 she enrolled at Dr C.N Phatudi College to further her studies doing her diploma in primary education which she completed in 1987 and started teaching in 1994 at Mampuru Primary School in Steelpoort for a period of 3 years. She was later promoted as the HOD and further as Deputy Principal and also acted as the Principal of Marambane Primary School, managing the enrolment of 1200 leaners and 23 educators.

She could not apply for the Principal post because she chose to be actively involved in politics instead. While she was the Deputy Principal and also acting as the Principal, she was also serving as a councillor at Ehlanzeni District Municipality from 2006 until 2010.


She proceeded to study further for her diploma in primary teaching by the year of 1987 and furthered her studies with the University of South Africa (UNISA) where she obtained her BA degree and went on to do her Honours Degree. She is currently registered with Nelson Mandela University, completed and awaiting her graduation ceremony and certification.

As a teacher she was actively involved in sport. I was a team leader of drum majorette and introduced the sporting code of drum majorette to the whole of Lydenburg. Obtained several trophies until at national level where the team obtained position 3.

Her political involvement has seen her elected as the Secretary of the ANCWL and won the Charlotte Maxeke Award as the branch which did well amongst all the 9 provinces in South Africa. She was also the Secretary of the ANC for consecutive years until 2014. Cllr Nkadimeng led the branch with passion and integrity and it was doing very well. She was also elected as the ANCWL Chairperson of the Region a position she holds to date.

In 2014 she was deployed by the ANC as the Member of Parliament and served in the Communications, Higher Education and Human Settlement portfolios.

Until she was promoted as the Chief Whip of the portfolio committee of Human Settlement. Together with the Chairperson they led the delegation to Singapore to benchmark on Human Settlement.

She is also a Christian belonging to the Evangelical Lutheran Church where she was leading as the church elder in the period 2015-2018 until she was appointed as the Deputy Secretary. She also joined the prayer women’s league and was appointed as the Deputy Chairperson of the league from 2012 to date. She was also appointed to be the church elder of the youth league of the church from 2012 to date.

The honourable Executive Mayor is married to Mr. Frans Nkadimeng and they are blessed with four children and twelve grandchildren.

She is passionate about sports and wellness of employees and she has pledged to support the sports teams within the municipality.
